Fire causes $30,000 in damage at Columbia restaurant

Columbia firefighters say Thursday morning’s fire at the IHOP restaurant on Brickton caused about $30,000 in damage.

Columbia assistant fire chief Clayton Farr tells 939 the Eagle that smoke was visible from IHOP’s exterior, when firefighters arrived at about 5:15 yesterday morning. The fire started on a stovetop grill inside the restaurant. The fire was quickly brought under control.

There are no reports of injuries. Mr. Farr says the fire’s cause remains under investigation.
