The Missouri state fire marshal says Thanksgiving Day is the peak day for home cooking fires, followed by Christmas and Christmas Eve.

State fire marshal Tim Bean is urging you to be prepared to deal with potential cooking fires. You’re also being reminded to never put water on a grease fire.

Mr. Bean also says an adult should remain at home when cooking a turkey so it can be checked on frequently.
