Your chance to vote in the Jefferson City mayor’s race may be a while off. But one candidate has already thrown his hat in the ring.
Fourth Ward Councilman Ron Fitzwater announced on KWOS on Saturday he will run for the job.
“Part of that is getting the city out of the way so businesses can do what they need to do. We don’t need so much regulation that we hamper opportunities for our small businesses.”
Fitzwater says Jefferson City continues to have challenges attracting conventions and other business because of a lack of a conference center.
Current mayor Carrie Tergin can not run again in 2022 because of term limits. Voters approved changes to the city charter requiring a mayor to wait four years after his or her second term before running again.
