Heavy flames pour out of a central Columbia house.
The fire started a little before 4 a.m. Tuesday on McBaine Avenue between Sexton and Worley.

One person inside escaped to safety, but a dog died. The fire caused more than $30,000 in damage. Investigators are working to find out what caused it.
