UPDATE: Flash flooding warning extended for northern Boone County

UPDATE: The National Weather Service (NWS) has extended the flash flood warning for northern Boone County until 1:03 pm.

HERE IS OUR ORIGINAL STORY:

Centralia, Hallsville, Harrisburg, Sturgeon and all of northern Boone County remain under a flash flood warning until 7:03 this (Tuesday) morning, due to heavy rain overnight.

National Weather Service (NWS) St. Louis meteorologist Jim Sieveking tells 939 the Eagle that northern Boone County has received three to five inches of rain since last night.

The Columbia area is under a flood watch. Mr. Sieveking says Columbia has received one to three inches of rain overnight.

There is also flooding in the St. Louis area. The NWS in St. Louis says some parts of the St. Louis region have received ten inches of rain overnight. St. Louis recorded more than seven inches of rainfall in five hours at Lambert Airport.

Heavily-traveled I-70 is closed at Mid-Rivers Mall in St. Charles County.
