Columbia Regional Airport flights canceled until Apr. 16

Flights at Columbia Regional Airport will be canceled for another week.

Interim City Manager John Glascock says the crosswind runway will be closed for emergency construction until next Tuesday, Apr. 16.

“These drastic steps are required so that we can open COU to all air traffic as quickly as possible and cause the least amount of disruption to our customers.”

American and United airlines had suspended their flights the last couple days. The city says their regional carriers were worried the “crown” of the crosswind runway, which helps drain off water, makes it too bumpy.

The main runway at Columbia Regional will be closed for maintenance for another couple months.
