Forecasters predict more Missouri River flooding this spring

Our saturated soil is making flooding more likely this spring.

Kevin Lowe with the National Weather Service tells Missourinet the heavy rain we got last year, and the snow this winter, have not given the ground a chance to dry.

“During the past month, we’ve experienced minor to moderate flooding along many of the tributaries to the Missouri River in the state of Missouri, and the main stem Missouri River itself has been in flood in the lower 100 miles.”

The Corps of Engineers is planning on high water releases upstream, from Gavins Point Dam down to us.
