Former state economist sees benefits of Medicaid expansion

Supporters say Missouri’s Medicaid expansion will create new health care jobs.

Former Missouri state economist Tom Kruckmeyer says we are going to need more care providers, since more people will have health coverage.

“There will be economic activity generated by the fact that people who work in the health care industry will be employed.”

Republican leaders and rural voters largely opposed the plan. But it passed last month with about 53% “yes” votes. Eligibility will open up next July.
