Sample, who ran unsuccessfully for the Missouri House in 2020 against State Rep. Cheri Toalson Reisch (R-Hallsville), is an advocate for equity, accessibility and inclusion.

Columbia’s third ward council seat is currently held by incumbent Roy Lovelady, who was elected in August 2022. His term expires in 2025. 939 the Eagle’s Mike Murphy reports Councilman Lovelady is not seeking re-election.

Columbia city council elections are on Tuesday April 8. Candidate filing continues until January 14.
