(AP) A former Highway Patrol trooper has dropped his lawsuits, ending his fight to regain his law enforcement license.
Anthony Piercy had been fighting for reinstatement to the patrol for a few years now.
He was fired from the patrol after an incident at the Lake of the Ozarks in 2014. Brandon Ellingson, 20, of Iowa fell out of a boat and drowned after Piercy had arrested and handcuffed him.
The attorney general’s office says Piercy will receive more than $200,000 in back pay in exchange for ending his dispute over his license being revoked.
