Columbia Police have made several arrests following Sunday afternoon’s disturbance at the ARC on West Ash.

The ARC’s website describes itself as Columbia’s “popular health club, fitness center and place to exercise and have fun.” While police received reports of possible shots fired, they’ve been unable to determine if shots were fired.

The incident happened at about 4:30 pm. One witness tells our news partner KMIZ that the incident began as a fight began two groups and then escalated to someone with a gun threatening to shoot. There was also a secondary scene at the nearby Gerbes across the street, relating to the first disturbance.

CPD officers say an adult female inflicted non-life threatening injuries on a juvenile. She was arrested for two counts of second degree assault and other charges. A juvenile was also arrested for second degree assault and making a terroristic threat and is in juvenile custody. Two other adults were also arrested: one for peace disturbance and fighting and the other for obstructing government operations.

The investigation continues. Anyone with information on the disturbance is encouraged to call Columbia Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS. You can call that number anonymously.
