Gladney one of several first responders honored by governor

A Boone County assistant fire chief who died last year was honored by Missouri’s governor Wednesday.

Governor Mike Parson awarded various public safety medals to 23 first responders for acts of heroism over the last year. Bryant Gladney posthumously received the all-new Red, White and Blue Heart award, given to first responders severely injured in the line of duty.

Gladney died last December when a tractor trailer slammed into his vehicle, while he was blocking off the scene of an earlier crash on I-70 east of Columbia.
