Banks and financial institutions are closed on Friday, and there will be no regular mail delivery. Most of Jefferson City’s 14,000 state employees have the day off tomorrow. While Columbia city offices are closed on Friday, all residential and commercial trash collection will take place. City spokeswoman Sydney Olsen says there will not be a delay because of the holiday.

Go COMO, which is Columbia’s public transit system, will not be running during the day tomorrow. However, Go COMO Transit will provide shuttles between all six downtown parking garages and Stephens Lake park for Friday’s Fire in the Sky celebration. The shuttles will run continuously from 5-11 pm on the Fourth of July.

The event in the park begins at 6:30 with food trucks and children’s activities, and fireworks will start at about 9:15 pm.
