Gov. Mike Parson releases more funds to the state budget after encouraging economic growth amid the pandemic.
Parson said Wednesday Missouri’s current unemployment rate of seven percent is nearly ten points lower than its projection when the budget tightened earlier this year.
“We are outpacing our budget forecast and recovering more jobs than the vast majority of other states,” said Parson.
An additional $133 million will be freed up in the budget. About $95 million is coming from the CARES Act. Parson says a large portion of the new money will go toward K-thru-12 education.
