Gov. Parson tours bridges in Boone, Cole counties

Governor Mike Parson is touring bridges in Boone and Cole counties that are due for some much needed maintenance.

He was at an I-70 bridge near Perche Creek Thursday morning. He was joined by Republican state Representatives Sara Walsh and Chuck Basye. Boone County Presiding Commissioner Dan Atwill was also there.

Parson tweeted that the bridge would be repaired under the “Focus on Bridges” program.

“Almost $100 billion moves along I-70 annually,” he said in the tweet. “It’s critical to keep our infrastructure maintained.”

Rep. Basye tweeted that it was “good to have many MoDOT employees at the bridge.”

Under the governor’s bridge project, once construction program funds are distributed to districts, MoDOT collaborates with regional planning groups to identify local priorities based on projected available funding.

The state would borrow $351 million in bonds to pay for the repairs and replacements.
