Graves part of Missouri delegation pushing flood aid

The U.S. Rep. for North Missouri says he believes flood aid will pass Congress.

Gov. Parson made the request for federal help on Wednesday. Missouri’s entire congressional delegation backed the request.

“We’re going to basically take some of the Senate language, and then we’re going to send it back over to the Senate,” Graves says to Missourinet.

Graves has filed a bill requiring the Army Corps of Engineers to focus on flood control, not preserving wildlife habitats, on the Missouri River. He says last month’s historic flooding is devastating many towns in his district.

“We have a lot of farmers out there that plan for this. But we have a lot of farmers out there too that… particularly those that are just getting started that don’t have the capacity to absorb an entire year with no income.”
