Griffith backs anti-Grain Belt bill

You’re not going to see new high voltage power lines across the state if the Missouri House has a say in it.

Jefferson City Rep. Dave Griffith voted to stop the Grain Belt wind power project from taking private land by eminent domain.

“I think the big pushback was we’ve got billionaires that are trying to exploit our farmers in our state.”

The House turned thumbs down on the plan to allow the for-profit firm the authority to take farmland for the lines. It would cross our area in Chariton, Randolph, and Monroe counties.

The bill now goes to the Senate.
