Hartsburg murder suspect in court on Friday; four-day jury trial scheduled to start February 25

A Hartsburg man charged with killing his father in 2022 will appear in Boone County Circuit Court Friday afternoon for a pretrial conference.

Boone County prosecutors have charged 25-year-old Collin Quinn Knight with first degree murder and armed criminal action. Knight is jailed without bond.

Boone County sheriff’s deputies said at the time of the incident that the 52-year-old male victim was pronounced dead at the scene, inside a home on South Old Route A. Deputies said at the time that Knight “was quickly identified” as the suspect.

Online court records reviewed by 939 the Eagle show Collin Knight was convicted of two felony counts of domestic assault in 2019 and was sentenced to five years probation at that time.

Knight’s pre-trial conference is scheduled for 12:30 this afternoon before Boone County Circuit Judge Joshua Calvin Devine. Knight’s four-day jury trial is scheduled to begin on February 25. Judge Devine will preside.
