Local congresswoman Vicky Hartzler got an update from Boone Hospital officials about opioid overdoses during a stop this week in Columbia.
The Republican U.S. Representative says she supports a system to track what drugs patients are getting.
“Missouri is the only state in the union that does not have this prescription drug monitoring program, and I think that makes us vulnerable,” Hartzler said, according to Missourinet.
The Missouri House has passed a prescription drug monitoring bill. It’s now in the Senate. Most of the state, including Boone County, falls under St. Louis County’s PDMP now.
