Heat will likely be factor at Boone County Fair

One of Missouri’s oldest county fairs begins this (Tuesday) afternoon, as the Boone County Fair opens at 5 pm.

The carnival opens at that time, and fair board president Jeff Cook says the kids will love it. The Boone County Fair pageant is at 7 pm. The Royal Legacy Circus will perform this evening, along with Johnny Rocket.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in St. Louis is expecting a high today of 97 degrees in Columbia, and the heat index will make it feel like at least 100 degrees.

Fair organizers are reminding everyone to stay hydrated and to wear light-colored clothing.
