“Heck of a party” in Fulton for Prop K supporters

Fulton property owners will see higher taxes at the end of the year.

Voters passed a school levy increase this week. Superintendent Jacque Cowherd says the new money will go to mental health services for kids, and a boost to salaries.

“Our teachers will get benefit of the money in their contracts this year, and Friday morning when we have our all-staff breakfast we’re going to have a heck of a party.”

Property taxes are now up in the Fulton school district about 57 cents for every $100 of assessed value.

“I think we helped [voters] understand it was directly going to kids. There was no fluff here,” Cowherd says.
