High-rise evacuated during brief fire

A downtown Columbia high-rise was evacuated last night after a trash fire broke out on the third floor. Columbia firefighters were dispatched about 9:30 p.m. to the Rise Apartments on Locust Street. They arrived within about three minutes to about 150 residents standing outside the apartment building. A small fire inside a trash collection room on the third floor was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported.
