Highway Patrol finds two women missing along local river

Highway Patrol troopers find two women that went missing along a local river.

Authorities say the two women were on a float trip Sunday on the Lamine River in Cooper County, starting at around 1 p.m.

After going missing for several hours, troopers found them at around 1 a.m. that night using a helicopter. They eventually air-lifted them to safety.

NOTE: This case is not related to the one involving Mengqi Ji, who has been missing since last October. Investigators believe her husband, Joseph Elledge, killed her, then dumped her body in the same river.
