Highway Patrol troopers will be out in full force on the roads and waterways looking for drunk drivers this holiday weekend.
Corporal Kyle Green says travelers also need to be aware of a lingering flood risk, too.
“We advise people to check their MoDOT website, make sure that the roadways they will be taking are open, and obviously we don’t want anybody attempting to cross a roadway that’s covered with water,” said Green.
As far as fireworks, Green says it’s important to keep kids supervised around those displays. He says around 15,600 people in the U.S. went to the emergency room last year due to fireworks injuries.
