Howard County voters this week approved an ordinance restricting big concentrated animal feeding operations, or CAFO’s. It got 58 percent approval.
Presiding Commissioner Sam Stroupe tells Missourinet the restrictions go beyond what’s already put in place by the state.
“That would perhaps dissuade some very large hog operations from coming in to the county.”
Neighbors have protested about water quality and their property values when businesses started setting up CAFO’s in Callaway and Moniteau counties.
