The Central Missouri Humane Society says a box of puppies dropped off Monday evening in subfreezing temperatures outside their Columbia building will be ready to adopt in about a week, unless the owner comes forward.
The Humane Society posted a photo of the puppies on Facebook, saying that someone pulled behind an employee’s vehicle outside the building, dropped the box and sped away. They’re pleading with the public not to dump animals, noting it was 15 degrees Monday night. That doesn’t include the wind chill.
The Humane Society says if they hadn’t found the puppies immediately, they may not have survived.
