Mid-Missouri’s largest school district, Columbia Public Schools (CPS), has a two-hour late start on Friday morning.
CPS spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark notes this is being done for safety reasons and to allow buses to navigate routes with daylight. Baumstark says that means buses will pick up students two hours later than their normal pick-up time.
Meantime, continued deteriorating icy roads have prompted dozens of mid-Missouri school districts to cancel classes for Friday. They include Jefferson City Public Schools (JCPS), Morgan County R-2 schools in Versailles, North Callaway R-1 in Kingdom City and Eldon R-1. They also include St. Joseph Catholic in Pilot Grove, Cole County R-5 in Eugene and St. Andrew in Tipton.
