You have an opportunity Thursday to meet the incoming Columbia Public Schools (CPS) superintendent at the Aslin building on West Worley.
CPS will be hosting a community meet and greet with Dr. Jeff Klein today from 4:30 to 6:30 at the Aslin administration building. CPS, which is Missouri’s fourth-largest school district, announced Superintendent Klein’s selection in late February. He was an internal candidate and is currently CPS’ chief academic officer.
Dr. Klein begins his new role as superintendent in July. He was selected after a two-month nationwide search. School board president Suzette Waters praises Dr. Klein’s ethics and integrity, adding that he’s approachable and accessible to CPS staff and to a wide range of stakeholders.
CPS spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark tells 939 the Eagle that there were 22 applicants for the superintendent post. Today’s meet and greet is open house style, which means you can arrive and leave anytime between 4:30 and 6:30.
