A resident of Columbia’s third ward has announced her candidacy for the city council. Dr. Jacque Sample is a Doctor of Occupational Therapy and an associate professor for Cox College. She said she’s an advocate for equity, accessibility and inclusion. She’s currently chairperson of the city’s disability commission. She made an unsuccessful bid for state representative in 2020. The seat on the city council is currently held by Roy Lovelady, who has said he is not seeking reelection. Municipal elections are April 8.
