Even if you’ve lived in Jefferson City for years, you may not have gotten a good view of the Missouri River.
That’s why Councilman Ron Fitzwater says he thinks the Bicentennial Bridge will be a great addition to the city.
“I grew up outside Cleveland, Ohio, and Cleveland did a very poor job of utilizing its lakefront,” Fitzwater says. “I always thought there should be an opportunity for Jefferson City to use the river to [our] advantage if we can.”
Private donations are expected to cover the nearly $6 million cost of the walkway from the Missouri Capitol to the river.
