JCPD warns about school zones as classes start Tuesday

If you’re a parent of school-age kids, you’re probably dropping big money on stuff like supplies for class and new clothes. Jefferson City Police Lieutenant Dave Williams says if you plan to speed through a school zone, you should save a little cash for that too.

“Sometimes double the fines just by simply being in a school zone. We’ll have our traffic unit out at schools. We’ll have patrol officers out at the schools.”

Jefferson City’s public schools start on Tuesday.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced last Friday that Williams won the Enoch B. Morelock Award. It recognizes outstanding moral character, service to law enforcement, and service to the community.
