Jeff City mayor talks sidewalk ordinance

You might be one of those Jefferson Citians who was amazed to learn that you’re legally required to fix the sidewalk in front of your house.

But Mayor Carrie Tergin says the council has moved potential changes to the ordinance to the back burner.

“I would be surprised if the same bill comes back.  It really does affect a small number of sidewalks and incidents a year.”

Because of the Americans with Disabilities Act, you are responsible for fixing a cracked sidewalk along your property that could cause someone
to trip and fall.
