One military Korea specialist says he doesn’t trust the North Koreans at all.
Retired Army Lt. Colonel Steve Tharp spent much of his career as both an active duty Army and civilian Korean expert, even serving as a negotiator at Panmunjom.
“They spent a lot of money and a lot of years developing those weapons,” Tharp says. “They think they need them to defend themselves, or at least an insurance policy against a US attack, and they’re not going to give them up.”
Tharp grew up in Jefferson City but now lives in Seoul. He says Kim Jong Un‘s million-man army sits just 40 miles away from South Korea’s capital.
