Two developers want to be the one chosen to build on the Jefferson City-owned site at the old Missouri State Penitentiary.
Mayor Carrie Tergin says her favorite from The Chesterfield Group is more in line with the city’s master plan.
“That proposes a hotel overlooking the Missouri River, a conference center there on-site, and a proposed ice arena.”
The other developer, Jefferson City’s Farmer Group, proposes building a conference center along with its new hotel already going up at the old St. Mary’s Hospital. The plan could also include conference center, soccer fields or a park at MSP.
The city council voted down both conference center proposals the last time the plan came up back in 2014.
The vote on the MSP plans could come at the council’s meeting on June 1, the same day MSP ghost and history tours resume.
