Jefferson City Council votes to remove Confederate marker

The Jefferson City Council voted on Monday night to remove a Confederate marker.

Opponents called it racist. The city’s Human Rights Commission joined those calling for the removal.

The Moreau Drive marker recaps when Confederate General Sterling Price turned away from attacking Jefferson City in 1864.

Crews were taking down the marker on Tuesday morning.
