Jefferson City hospitals report drop in COVID-19 patients

You may have a better chance of finding a hospital bed in Jefferson City than you would have just a few weeks ago.

Capital Region Medical Center president Gaspare Calvaruso says he is no longer at capacity.

“Late November, we were around 40-45 patients [with COVID-19] of a 100-bed hospital,” Calvaruso says. “Today, I think the census is around 18 or 19.”

Calvaruso says St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City is seeing similar numbers. He adds they hope to start vaccinating front line medical staff in a week or two.
