You could soon see a lot more barges navigating the Missouri River.
A House Committee is discussing a plan this week to deed over 100 acres of riverfront property to the Heartland Port Authority .
“We’re thankful that MoDot was very supportive and allowed us to begin this process and give us the approval to establish the Port Authority. So that was a really huge step forward,” Jefferson City Mayor Carrie Tergin says.
Tergin is lobbying for the state of the art river port to be built just downstream from the Capital City.
