Jefferson City police investigate social media threats

Jefferson City police are looking into a threat by made a student on social media.

It was posted yesterday, and the student was immediately detained.

School administrators quickly determined there was no legitimate threat, but law enforcement is still conducting a full investigation.

The student is not in school, and there’s no word on whether they’ll face any criminal charges.

“JCPD and the staff of Jefferson City High School took, and will continue to take, all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our students and staff; actions taken up to this point have fully addressed any threat that existed,” the district said in a statement. “As always, we will continue to work with the Jefferson City Police Department and members of our community to address issues as they arise.”

The district reiterated that there was no threat to public safety.
