Jefferson City police officer will not be charged in deadly shooting

A Jefferson City police officer will not be charged in the deadly shooting of a suspect last month.

ABC 17 reports the Cole County Prosecutor made the decision on Thursday.

According to the Cole County Prosecuting Attorney Locke Thompson, the officer acted appropriately and lawfully when shooting Anthony J. Wilson.

Wilson was killed in the middle of April after a police chase.

Thompson said Wilson pulled a handgun and shot twice, hitting a police officer in the chest before he was fatally shot.
