Jefferson City prepares for Adrian’s Island

Some jokingly call it the “Bridge to Nowhere.”

But Jefferson City Parks Director Todd Spaulding says the walkway and Adrians Island will become one of the city’s most popular parks. He says officials are ready for any potential flooding.

“If you build things up you have to take certain things down.  You don’t want to increase the flood plane, even by just a square inch.”

Spaulding says they’re confident that 12 acres of the riverfront island will stay high and dry most of the time, barring historic floods.
