Jefferson City Special Olympics building back under roof

The folks at Special Olympics Missouri were set to hit a re-building milestone on Friday.

President and CEO Susan Stegeman says its Jefferson City campus building is set to be back under roof.

“Kind of a milestone in the construction phase. So we’re pretty excited to see that progress and I know a lot of Missourians are too as they travel through town and such to say ‘Finally, it’s happening, it’s coming together.'”

The May tornado in Jefferson City did major damage to the Training for Life Campus.

“Everyone’s been really patient and very supportive. We’ve had to do business elsewhere, and we’ve figured out ways to do it. But we are excited for May, June of 2020.”

Special Olympics Missouri announced a new partnership with the University of Missouri System on Wednesday.

  1. Forgive me for not giving a rip when the SE decides to bring in a saint louis general contractor to build something like this. We have plenty of capable contractors in the area. Why they feel the need to hire this out to their overpriced friends and then turn around and ask the community for more donations to pay for it is beyond my understanding.
