Opening statements are expected to begin Wednesday at the Boone County Courthouse in the trial of a Columbia man accused of beating a man to death in 2020.
56-year-old David Myers is charged with second degree murder for the June 2020 death of Anthony Lockwood of Columbia.
Court documents say Myers and Lockwood were involved in an argument on Sycamore Hills road, near Creasy Springs. Myers allegedly beat the 39-year-old Lockwood to death with a pole or a stick.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Department investigated the death as a homicide. Myers’ attorneys are expected to argue self-defense.
