Former Missouri Secretary Jason Kander says he’s dropping out of the race to become Kansas City’s mayor.
Having previously served as an officer in the U.S. Army for 9 years, Kander cited an ongoing battle with PTSD as the reason he’s stepping away from politics, at one point admitting to having suicidal thoughts.
In a letter posted on his campaign website Tuesday, the former state representative said he fully plans to return to public life after he’s worked on recovery.
