Kayaker rescued from Missouri River near Jefferson City

A near miss for a Mid-Missouri man.

Highway Patrol Sergeant Scott White says emergency responders had to pull a kayaker from the Missouri River on Tuesday night.

Another kayaker managed to get to shore and call in rescue crews to the Marion Access north of Jefferson City. They both should be ok.

White says the flooded river is very unsafe for boaters at its current level.

“Missouri (River) is still flooded. Osage (River) is still way up. There’s going to be a lot of debris out there. Whether you’re in a boat or in a kayak or whatever, very easily you could capsize.”
