Lawmakers question idea of putting day care near sex offenders

A plan to put up a day care next door to a Sedalia building full of sex offenders could end up changing state law.

“They wanted to build a daycare next to a nursing home with 100 sex offenders. According to them, the state would have to approve it,” says Missourinet’s Brian Hauswirth.

Hauswirth sat in on a Capitol hearing about the issue that had both lawmakers and lobbyists questioning the idea.

A bill would allow the Department of Health and Senior Services the authority to make them build somewhere else.
