Congressman Smith has visited farm operations in St. Francois County, Jefferson County and numerous other counties. Congressman Smith describes farmers and ranchers as the backbone of rural Missouri and tells listeners that that federal working families tax cuts bill will help them.

Chairman Smith says he’s been hearing “over and over” from voters about the affordability issue, as he conducts his annual farm tour throughout his southeast Missouri district:

“I sum it up as the cost of food, fuel and fertilizer,” Congressman Smith says.

He says the costs of food, fuel and fertilizer are very important across southeast Missouri. He also says the farm economy has been struggling with lower commodity prices. While congressional Democrats have blamed President Trump and Republicans for higher costs, Congressman Smith says Republicans are working to lower costs and grow wages and says Democrats want to raise taxes.
