American Red Cross of Missouri and Arkansas chief executive officer Barry Falke tells 939 the Eagle that the Red Cross is grateful to Columbia and to surrounding mid-Missouri communities:

“And I would be remiss if I didn’t say we’re also looking for partners to help us with that particular piece. The Red Cross really only exists because of the generosity of its donors, whether they’ll be blood donors, whether that be donors who volunteer their time or of course financial donors,” Mr. Falke says.

The new Red Cross Columbia chapter headquarters are being built on Stellar drive, near VU’s headquarters. Columbia-based Coil Construction is the lead contractor for the project. Coil Construction founder Randy Coil attended this week’s groundbreaking in scorching heat. Mr. Coil tells 939 the Eagle that this is a great partnership:

“You know for Columbia they have been one of the central charities that have been here for so many years. 50 years I believe they said at the last location. And so moving here for them is monumental. And the ability to upgrade their facilities into something that will serve our communities and surrounding states even further,” says Mr. Coil.

The new headquarters will include a blood collection donor center, office space and training classrooms for first aid and CPR.
