Fulton’s Brick District Playhouse has received a much-needed $20,000 donation from the Callaway Bank for teaching and delivering children’s theatre.

Bank chief executive officer Kim Barnes says children’s theatre is near and dear to their hearts. She tells 939 the Eagle that this funding is important to organizations like the Callaway Arts Council that is in the playhouse:

“We love seeing children thrive. Every child deserves the right to be part of something that lifts up their spirit. Makes them feel valued and worthwhile,” Ms. Barnes says.

She says because money has been tight, the Brick District Playhouse hasn’t been able to do as much as they would like to do:

“They mentioned wanting to put a musical on and just they have not had the funds to do that. And all the kids’ eyes just sparked when they said that. It’s going to be great,” Barnes says.

Barnes says the Brick District Playhouse delivers exceptional programming for our community.

The Callaway Bank has donated $47,000 overall to the Brick District Playhouse and four other non-profits. Because of FHLB Des Moines’ member impact fund, Callaway Bank was able to bring $139,000 in additional funding that will help those non-profits.
