Hundreds of people are expected to be in historic downtown Boonville for Saturday’s 2nd annual sippin’, strollin’, rockin’ and rollin’ event. It will feature more than a dozen breweries.

Event co-chair Mary Pat Abele tells 939 the Eagle that the fundraiser will benefit two projects: the Boonslick regional library’s move to its soon-to-be new home on the Kemper campus and future projects of the Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce.

“The move involves renovating the building that’s a 1906 building on the Kemper campus. And it’s a wonderful three-story brick building, and it will actually more than double our space,” Abele says.

She says Boonville has needed a new or larger library for the past 20 years.

Last year’s event drew more than 500 people. Abele tells 939 the Eagle that the event will be held rain or shine.

“We’ll have over 17 different distributors, not distributors but actual vendors who own wineries and breweries who will be here under tents. So if it rains, we’re protected,” says Abele.

Saturday’s sippin’ and strollin’ event is from 4-7 and the rockin’ and rollin’ event is from 7-10. Organizers say you should check in at the corner of Chestnut and main streets. You’re reminded to bring your identification.
