The “Missouri Times” publisher doesn’t mince words when describing the significance of bipartisan legislation signed by Governor Mike Parson in August providing $2.8 billion to reconstruct and expand I-70 to six lanes from Blue Springs to Wentzville.

Governor Parson and state lawmakers will be in Columbia on Thursday morning for the groundbreaking ceremony at the Drury Plaza Hotel near I-70 and Highway 63:

“It is the most important thing Missouri can do for our national defense. It is the most important thing Missouri can do for our country. I mean Brian you’re going to cover something a long time before you cover something as meaningful as this project,” Mr. Faughn tells listeners.

“Missouri Times” publisher Scott Faughn tells “Wake Up Mid-Missouri” that this is the largest public works project in state history. The first phase of the project is the 20 miles from Columbia to Kingdom City. That phase alone will cost $405-million. MoDOT plans to install new concrete pavement on all three lanes in each direction from Columbia to Kingdom City.
